Sophie Mac Softball Camps is pleased to invite you to Catholic University to participate in our camps. Most events will be one day, but are unique for players coming to grow their skills or those who have interesting in attending Catholic University.
These camps are hosted on the stunning campus of Catholic University in Northeast Washington, DC. Our camps are run with current players and all current coaches to allow there to be a high level of instruction for all players attending.
Student – Athletes have the opportunity to showcase their skills and receive instruction from collegiate players and coaches. The players will have the opportunity to play softball and gain knowledge of the game in addition to viewing the beautiful campus in our nation’s capital.
Sophie Maccarone was named the first full-time head coach of the Catholic softball program effective July 17, 2023.
Maccarone ('21) is a graduate of Catholic University and a former four-year member of the softball program. Maccarone spent 2022-23 as the program's Graduate Assistant Coach, helping the team to a 23-17 record. The Cardinals reached the Landmark Conference Tournament as the number three seed after sweeping Juniata in the final doubleheader of the regular season.
A former outfielder herself, Maccarone helped oversee a group that had all three starters earn All-Landmark honors in 2023.
The University of Maryland completed a $3.0 million softball complex in Spring 2002. The facility is the latest improvement to a Maryland athletics program that already ranks among the top 10 institutions in the nation for female athletes, according to the 2001 fall issue of Sports Illustrated For Women.
Located adjacent to Maryland’s state-of-the-art Xfinity Center on the north side of campus, student-athletes will have access to locker room and weight-training facilities, an indoor practice gymnasium, athletic department offices and the academic support and career development unit.
The stadium’s many amenities include two bullpen areas, four batting cages, underground dugouts with restrooms and a natural Bermuda grass outfield.
My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the Tiny Terps camp! Courtney was amazing with the pitchers, Taylor was the best cheerleader and all of the players and coaches were wonderful with the girls. She can't wait to return this summer and of course come to the games to cheer on the team.
WOW!!! I LOVED being on campus at Maryland!! I really could see myself as a Terp.
I learned so much at camp, especially with those tiny gloves and tennis balls. That was a challenge, but I will be working hard to get better at that.
I loved the coaching staff and players (especially Noodle, she was very cool.)
Thank you for everything and I hope to see you soon.
Barbara Jo really enjoyed the camp. We also enjoyed the visit to the campus, and I enjoy watching college level coaching so I can bring some fresh drills back to my travel teams.
Great camp. My daughter enjoyed the opportunity to work with the team and the pitching coach
